E-books Go Out of Fashion As Book Sales Revive

From Time Magazine:

British book stores have good news for bibliophiles, reporting that more people have been buying physical books recently. What’s more, sales of e-readers have apparently slumped according to their reports. Waterstones, a U.K. book store chain which also sells Amazon’s Kindle, told the Financial Times that demand for the e-reader has all but disappeared.

Did this research take into consideration the sales of tablets? Or only e-readers?
I had a Sony e-reader which I used extensively until I bought myself an iPad. Since the Sony was left somewhere in a drawer and I use my iPad for reading e-books. I like the convenience of having numerous books on it which I read at the same time without cluttering my night table.
I know, judging how fast the technology advances I am not quite sure if the device from 2030 will still read my epub books from today. Whereas the printed books will last a lot longer.

I believe that the e-books still have a future and may replace at least partially the printed books (the same way the quartz watches replaced the mechanical ones, although there are still quite a few people who prefer the latter - myself included)

I've changed the way I've used e-readers. I purchased many books on kindle and now regret it. I wish I had the books in my hand. I now use my tablet for PDFs only. I also load that PDF to google drive so I can organize it a little better. I have about 4 books on the way and I could have saved around $20 electronically. The extra money is worth it for me.

When I got my Sony reader I got a lot of books in *.lrf format (mainly because of displaying full justified).
After I got my uPad I realized that epub is the widely accepted standard. Now I have to convert my lrf's into epub.

Either way, right now, if I had to chopse between paper and electronic, I would vote for the electronic format because of the convenience. I am not quite sure thatI would still be able to read my epubs in 20 years from now (20 years ago I was still using 5,25" floppy disks ;-) - but I tty not to think about it.

There's nothing better than a hard copy book when I'm reading something.

I also can't store ebooks in the library in my house. Why do I even have a pipe and a monocle if I can't have a library to enjoy them in?
