Lodge Bylaws

I'm considering doing a major rewrite of our Lodge bylaws. They don't conform to GL's model, haven't been updated since 2001, and are generally obsolete. I've got a good model already done, but I was looking to see if any of y'all had any good ideas to include beyond what GL recommends. Does anyone want to share their bylaws with me?

Thanks!

I'd suggest that you limit your bylaws to the bare minimum that's needed to conform with GL. For everything else, have the lodge adopt a set of guide lines that every member agrees to follow. The reasoning being that guide lines are easier to change and adapt as needed since you don't have to run everything by GL. That's just my opinion though, we did it at my old lodge and it worked well.

Hey Michael,

You might check with Gary at Kendall Lodge for a copy of the bylaws and standing rules. The standing rules provide a lot of freedom whereas the bylaws are more restrictive in nature.

Hi Dow!
I did talk to Gary and got a copy of both already. Thanks!

I hope all is well back at my Home Lodge!

Things are going well. I saw your brother in lodge last week for a Fellow Craft degree. It was good to see him.
