Greetings brethren,
It's been sometime since i have been on the forum but have great news to share. Consequently i dont have many other people outside my lodge i can tell lol but tonight i was asked to be chaplain next year. Currently installed as junior steward but filled in for inner guard all year. I'm over the moon that my brothers and the yet to be wm feel I am worthy to jump so many seats to this role. I know it will go nicely all the same, but at the same time hope to never let my brothers down....hope you all are having a night as great or better than mine!

Well still excited as right after i'll be sd...here in canada chaplain is in the progression (atleast in edmonton alberta), this will be the first time in almost a decade that my lodge has had enough active members to fill all officer seats to warrant having an appointed chaplain. Just happy i will be the first to be appointed in a very long time

Hi Blacksmith - you're profile still says you are not a mason - you probably want to fix that up if no longer true...

In my Texas lodge chaplain is traditionally been in the progressive line but it's been many years since there were enough progressing officers to complete the set. As a result a Brother is appointed either to see if he will remain active or a PM who likes to stay active.

In my California lodge chaplain is not a part of the progressive line but his chair is located near the east that's a good position for a prompter. Many CA lodges appoint a senior PM who is an expert ritualist for that reason.

In my Illinois lodges the exact location of the chair is different but it's still a good location for a prompter so the rest apply.

Not so here. He is seated to the right of the WM. Progressive offices here are Inner Guard, JD, SD, JW & SW.

Some lodges here have put MMs in as chaplian as part of progression, but they learn a lot of words you do not need to know a Master... Everyone I know who goes via that lane (unless it is the first office) say it's a bad choices (in our structure).

In my Mother Lodge in NM, Chaplain was where they started the line, before Steward even! The chair was in the SE, facing N. Here in Cali, he sits between the Sec and WM, facing W.

Needless to say, Bro it is always a will and pleasure to sit in any seat when called upon to do so. Handle your business..You never know you might get that chance to sit in the "East"..At our Last communication I sat in the "West' and showed out, It was a Raising...Felt real good..
