So after much thought and deliberation, I am starting my York Rite journey this Wednesday in Greensboro.

They are spreading the degree's out as follows, and I'm interested to see if this is similar or different to how it's done in most places..

Wednesday Night- Mark Master, Past Master, Most Excellent Master
Saturday Morning/Afternoon: Royal Arch, Cryptic Council Degrees, Order of the Red Cross, Order of Malta.
Wednesday September 28- Order of the Temple in Castle McCulloh in Jamestown performed by the Grand Commandery of North Carolina. Being knighted by the REGC will be quite a honor I'm sure..

On another note...as of August 13th I officially passed the test and am now considered a Certified Lecturer in the Blue Lodge for North Carolina. This means I had to recite from memory opening and closing a lodge in each degree, take every part in conferring the degrees, explain all the floor work, and give all the lectures.. I have only been in the Fraternity since February 2015 so I feel rather accomplished to say the least.

I also had the pleasure of going to a Prince Hall Third Degree last week... and while I don't feel comfortable getting into specifics on here..I will just say ...it was different and interesting..lol..those of you that have seen one should know what I'm talking about ;)

Congratulations on joining the York Rite and your certification as a lecturer. I'm sure that you will enjoy both.

As for differences I went through the YR in the traditional way. Took me 7-8 months. I don't consider either one better, just different.

Thank you Brother Joe..I am very appreciative thus far as to how the Royal Arch and Cryptic Degrees add to the blue lodge ..

Question for you and any knowledgable brothers in the YR is, do you HAVE to be a Christian to partake in the Orders or do you just have to be willing to defend the Christian Faith ?
