Diego Garcia

Sorry about PCS'ing to Diego Garcia. About the only thing outside of work is MWR and the beach. When I went through there many years ago there wasn't any lodge. I'm sure you'll run into some contractors and Permanent Party on the island that are member of the craft. Perhaps you can start a military lodge. I hope you like Tiger beer and coconuts. All the best.

I was there for 14 months, '88-'89. We always said the only things to do were drink, fish, and work out... a lot of buff, drunk fishermen.
Back then it was a dollar a minute for a phone call, TV came in a can, and computers were something from sci-fi movies. A lot has changed since then.
Good luck!

I don't know what tv in a can means, but the rest sounds amazing!

"In the can" refers to film. We got TV shows mailed to the station and watched them a week late. The only live show we got was the Super Bowl... starting at around 0100.

Lol, thanks for the info guys. I actually chose these orders, believe it or not. I'm only there for a year, I basically get choice of duty afterward. Hopefully that turns out well.
