I think he meant it's frowned on to join so soon after being raised

So, again, I would ask - why? Isn't it a continuation of the same journey?

Not necessarily. I was advised by some to wait six months after being raised to join an appendant body while others told be to join as soon as I was raised if that is what I wanted to do. I decided to wait the six months but that is just me.I am a new MM myself (2 months) and I have already joined the York Rite. Of course it is frowned upon to do so, I don't worry about that.
....unless you want to participate in ritual. In my Chapter, Council and Commandery reading a part is frowned upon.No memorization of work.
Yeah, I hear that so often, and have never understood why. I joined the first Scottish Rite class after I was raised, and never felt like I did it too quickly.I was recommended to wait to join an appendant body until I served a little while in the Blue Lodge. But not sure why. It all ties in together.
Those that recommended this to me said that it was to allow me to have a firmer grasp of what goes on in a Blue Lodge so that I would better understand the teachings of the appendant body.I was recommended to wait to join an appendant body until I served a little while in the Blue Lodge. I'm sure you're joking, but we are not supposed to recruit for appendant bodies in blue lodge. We give appendant body activity reports as part of regular business, and can do education about those bodies, but no asking anyone to join or distributing petitions in lodge.Around here we have a saying after the Brother is raised and after the charge. The secretary approaches you from the east with your bible, craftsman, dues card and a petition to the York Rite.

Here representatives of appendant bodies will occasionally visit the lodges and speak about their organizations and invite Brothers to join.I was asked to join AASR before. Maybe each state is different.
I have only seen that happen once in my Lodge. In mine they kind of expect everyone to go to the SR as soon as they can so they can get bodies to help with degrees and such. That is about the extent of people soliciting for appendant bodies. Here representatives of appendant bodies will occasionally visit the lodges and speak about their organizations and invite Brothers to join.
Guthrie Scottish Rite? I attended their spring reunion last year, which should be on every Scottish Rite Mason's "bucket list."I have only seen that happen once in my Lodge. Guthrie does an amazing job. I had never been up there for the SR until last fall when I did the Venerable Preceptor part in the 17th for a guy since he couldn't be there. That's where we hold Grand Lodge each year. magnificent building. It was at one time where the State Gov't. held its sessions.I've heard Guthrie is second to none.
