Aprons at public presentation

In your own hall it's not in the public. It's a private event to which the public is invited. Being a private event in our own hall aprons are encouraged but not mandatory. As opposed to tiled events that are members only with aprons mandatory.

When we go out in public that's when we need dispensation. Veteran's Day parade. Independence Day parade. One apron march I attended was a public march from the old hall building to the new hall building by a lodge in my distinct the day they relocated.

That's the policy of all 3 of my jurisdictions.

We cannot wear out Regalia in public without dispensation from the Grand Master.. but I would not take it off to go and get something from a car in the carpark or directly outside on the street.

Only time I know of where you can wear an apron outside of the Lodge aside from a funeral without dispensation would be a Grand Lodge event. Here in San Antonio, we have an annual ceremony at the Alamo where we all meet at a museum down the street and we all walk over to the Alamo as one large group. The Grand Master and GL Officers are present, and the city usually has either the mayor or a representative there to make a proclamation.

This year you should come to Austin the morning of Veterans Day to join us on our annual apron march up Congress Avenue. The dispensation gets issued the month after the event to keep it an annual event.

Do you have time and location yet? I would love to join in on the event. Sounds like a good time.

Veteran's Day morning. Park just south of the Congress St bridge and gather on the bridge. I don't have the time. We were 9 AM last year. We march behind the Ben Hur Shrine float so if you want to ride there are seats.
