I wanted to become a “real life” Jedi, this May sound funny at first but take away the lightsabers and theatrics and you are left with a mentally and morally composed Freemason. In addition gaining a vast network of brothers and fellows that I can trust and count on.... also like that of the Jedi. This is something I will do for the rest of my life with excitement

To me Freemasons and Jedi are synonymous
Wasn’t Darth Vader a Jedi?

You are not the first to make that connection, there are some really interesting parallels.

When I joined, I made a stipulation with my brother (not really brother, my really good friend) that if he joined, I would join... Vice versa. It was always a curiosity thing for me and him. Going deeper though, I wanted that strong brotherly bond that I knew only masons could hold. Since I've been initiated and passed (I become a Master Mason on June 18), I've experience a love and a bond unlike any other. I've never felt more accepted, not even at church. I will never look back and neither will you if you decided to join!

Okay guys, I submitted my petition last night to Wallace Hughston Lodge 1393 in El Paso. I think I have found my home with a bunch of guys I really enjoy being around.

Congratulations Mark - make sure you give it a chance, it can all seem a bit strange, but it sounds like you've found a good bunch - there is nothing warmer than a group of Brothers together

I will be completely honest. When I first joined I was at that point too immature to fully understand what it meant to be a Free Mason. I was then given the opportunity shortly after becoming a Mason to go through Scottish Rite with no expense. I then shortly after becoming a 32nd degree Mason I had demitted and renounced my Free Mason way of life, the duty to my brotherhood, and the duty to my family by following a code of ethics. A couple years have passed and I am attempting to make amends with my brotherhood and regain their trust and hope in due time, respect. I am ashamed of what I did, and I have felt ashamed for the last couple years as I let my brotherhood down. So the reason why I am rejoining, and why I feel I belong is because it has helped me become a better man, and will continue to help me grow as a better man.

I also wish you the best Bro Andrew.
