Order of the Thistle

Did the Knighting Ceremony, known as the Order of the Thistle, for the Knights of St. Andrew last night. We initiated two new knights. Had a bagpipe and drum corp. present that marched in with us during the Presentation of the Colors. Beforehand we had a great meal. This was an open ceremony so family members were president. As Knight Marshall I had a part in the presentation. A great time was had by all!

That's cool Warrior. I'd like to get involved with the Knight of Saint Andrew, but I barely get to attend any AASR meetings as it is. I'm 2.5 hours from my Valley, and deeply involved in the Commandery. One day.

Matt,
That's why I've never joined SR. It's about 1:15-1:20 each way to Knoxville for me, and outside of going to a Vols game, I'd just as soon take a beating as I would spend time in Knoxville. Almost 25 years ago, when I was approached about YR or SR, I asked the difference. The first thing I heard was, "SR meets in Knoxville; YR meets right here," and that was pretty much all I needed to know.

Lol....funny! However, in my case both organizations are within a twenty minute drive.

I belong to two Scottish Rite valleys. My primary one is in Rochester, MN, and is an hour and twenty minute drive. I don't mind making that drive. The other is a Lodge of Perfection only (rather than having all four bodies,) is so new that it's still operating under a "letter temporary" and moves its meeting location around to serve a sparsely populated portion of the state. That drive can vary from ten minutes, when it meets here in the town I live in, to over an hour.
