Congratulations on your election, Brother. You are now one of the three principal officers in your Lodge and responsible for the smooth and harmonious operation of your at labor and refreshment. If your Master is sitting in the East for the first time, he is likely beginning to realize the weight of his responsibilities and may even be starting to panic. I know I did! It is up to his Wardens to help him keep things going. Stay in very close and constant contact with him. Be his sounding board and look for ways to make his load lighter. Your GL likely has a booklet or guide on your duties and you should make sure you know those duties inside and out. But more than that, be one of the main supports for your WM. You and the SW should be his trusted lieutenants. I know we always promote that tired line that "family and work come before the Lodge!" But seriously, as a Warden, who may be the Master sooner rather than later if your Lodge uses a progressive line, this is your life right now. You won't truly appreciate how much your diligent assistance means until you sit in the East, hopefully with Wardens as conscientious as you will be. One thing I cannot stress enough is to support your WM and never be negative about them to the Brothers. If you disagree with a position they have taken, talk to him, not about him. The Master and Wardens should be a unified front as the Lodge's leaders. And just as important, start preparing for the next chair and learning his portion of the ritual.
