Nebraska's Return To Proficiency

Totally agree! I see no problem with one or two day festivals for Scottish Rite and York Rite as there is no memorization required. But with Blue Lodge this just won't work because of the proficiencies....and dropping proficiency is just ludicrous IMHO.

I didn't know that some GLs had dropped the memorization part. OK and TX had not, at least not as of a few years ago. I'm not even sure if NY has dropped that requirement or not. I need to find that out since the last group of guys that came through did so very quickly. I didn't go to every meeting so not sure if they had to give the cat lecture back or not. OK's was long. I've heard TX's as well and it was long too.

Seriously about time too. I can't imagine any role-playing theatrical society surviving at any length whose members are not required to memorize the very scripts that make new members.

Right, at that point you're just reading it aloud from a book. Doesn't quite have the impact.

No memorization is required in PA except for the grip dialogs. The Candidates are instructed in the meaning and are "tested" on that before advancing to the next degree. Memorization isn't mandatory until you wish to be elected to a Warden's office.

How about those members that dont want to be involved in making new members? That actully dont want to be in the play?
