Any HAMs?

I held a Technician No code class license that expired many years ago. My callsign was KG4EVV. I still have a 2m hand held Yaesu and a few other 2m/440 rigs. Anyway, been toying with the idea of getting a new license. I haven't really looked into it a whole lot yet. Definitely would need to study up again.

Anyway, any active HAMS in this group?

Right now, I'm moving my station and only have V/UHF. This spring I'll have HF back up. Does anybody here work digital modes or 2 meter SSB?

Based on your call sign, I'm guessing you have worn out more than one pair of boots.
That would be correct sir! Eight years active duty at Fort Drum, NY. Deployed three times, Afghanistan 2003-04, Iraq 2005-06 and 2007-08.

I was studying for my Technician last year but got busy. I should finish that. It looks fun.

Go for it. The Technician Exam is 35 questions, multiple choice. There are a number of places on the internet where you can take free practice exams. If you need any further information let me know.

Yes, I work FT-8 on the 6, 20 and 40 meter bands. With my new Icom 9700, I am about to try SSB on 2 meters and maybe satellite as well, although my end fed my J-Pole antenna may not work well with that. Also going to try FT-8 on 2 meters.
