Just wanted to let everyone know that Canada Lodge at Kandar Air field is still active. I am currently serving as the Senior Deacon. If any Masons at KAF are looking for a lodge and fellowship PM me or post here. Canada lodge does recognize PHA as well so all are welcome.

Thanks to all of you in our military that sacrifice daily for us here back home.

I had a 24 year old Jordanian requesting information on Lodges in Jeddah City, Saudi Arabia. I realize you're in an entirely different country, but thought a Military Brother might have knowledge related to his search.

I don't know anything about him except he stated he is a student in advertising and design, and wants to be a Mason. He doesn't know of any Masons, nor Lodges in the area.

I started a link in the International Freemasonry area for him. It's mis-titled, "Looking for Lodge in Jordan?" I'm sure any assistance we can get for him will be appreciated.

Please be careful my Brothers, so when your duty is done, you can come home to your Families and Brothers.

It is an Honor to call you my Brothers!

May you be blessed with a glorious day!

Yours, in His service.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I checked the thread you posted and I believe the craft is illegal in Saudi as well. Sounds like Jordan would be his best bet.

Thank you Brother,

I advised him to check there when he gets home from his travels. He's definitely not in friendly country?!

May you be blessed with a glorious day!

The Saudi government are quite well known for blaming all the shortcomings of the country on Jews and Freemasons. Remember that country is intolerant of ALL religions but Islam, they do not want any organization promoting tolerance or suggesting other religions could be equal to Islam especially one originally formed by Christians. They certainly do not want their people to be encouraged to think independent. Those seeking out Freemasonry in ANY Muslim country should be very careful as the craft is illegal in most Islamic nations. They do exist but they are very secret and you can bet they don't let just anyone in, not when being a Freemason can get you tortured and killed for your troubles.

I have lived in Saudi Arabia (1991 and 1997). Freemasonry, and all such organizations are totally illegal in Saudi Arabia. You should be very cautious and circumspect about Freemasonry in any country, with a muslim-majority population. Nevertheless, there are lodges which operate in some of these countries. The Saudi government turns a "blind eye", to organizations which operate on the camps and compounds where foreign oil workers live, as long they operate quietly.

I work internationally, and I am returning to Afghanistan in a couple of weeks. On the military bases, there are USA lodges, all sponsored and chartered by USA Prince Hall Grand Lodges. Sadly, no USA Grand Lodge has never issued a charter for a military traveling lodge, during the longest military conflict in USA history. This is a shame and a disgrace, for USA Freemasonry. Believe me, I have been trying since 2005, to get a lodge underway in Iraq or Afghanistan.

The Grand Lodge of Ontario (Canada) issued a charter for a lodge to operate at Kandahar, and I participated, when I lived there.

I plan to start an informal "Square and Compasses club , when I return to Kabul. We will not be a tyled, chartered lodge, and we will do no Masonic work, but we can fellowship.

If I'm still here in Kabul when you get here, good brother, I'm more than willing to assist in the creation of a "Square & Compass" club. We're a PHA lodge with good fraternal relations with men from recognized lodges in the US and Europe. (Met a brother from Belgium over here recently.) Godspeed good brother.
