Masonic Meditation

I have seen a number of posts suggesting ways that Masons might improve themselves during this time of social distancing. Personally I have found social isolation to be a little unnerving. I have begun to understand why prisoners are put in isolation as punishment. Spending more time alone with myself has pointed out areas where my thinking is undisciplined. One thing I have found that is helpful to me are the Masonic Meditation offerings of Brother C.R. “Chuck” Dunning. These are available on YouTube at no cost under the heading “The Contemplative Builder Audio Series”. I would enjoy having a conversation with anyone who meditates, who engages in Masonic Meditation, or who cares to try the meditations I have linked below.

In my view the problem is a physics problem.................
Thank you for taking the time to write such an in-depth answer to my question. I must admit that some of the terminology and descriptive systems you used in formulating your answer are beyond my experience. However I believe that I have a basic understanding of some of the concepts and structures and you are referencing, even if my level of involvement with those concepts and structures is at a much more basic level. I relate to it more as a psychic problem (from the Greek psyche - meaning soul). From a Masonic perspective I see meditation as a way of balancing Wisdom, Strength, and Beauty. When these areas of my life are unbalanced I feel uneasy and the amount of constructive work I can accomplish is diminished.

As you said, “finding an effective form of meditation is not easy”. Over the years I have tried many forms of meditation that were not effective for me. That is one reason that I was pleased to find a meditation that I could relate to. I am not approaching meditation from a standpoint of understanding, but rather from a standpoint of action. I tried it and got good results.

Same here although recently I have been delving more deeply into the esoteric side of Masonry and am beginning to understand more.
When it comes to Esoteric Masonry I am not Guru, Sage, or Teacher. I have been studying esoteric literature for twenty years trying to make sense of it. I can only share what I have learned in that time. At first I thought I would find some great piece of insight or some hidden wisdom that would make my journey easier. Didn’t happen. Then I thought perhaps I was using the wrong system and I explored many different spiritual paths. Mostly I learned that all esoteric systems seemed to be in agreement on certain points, even if they used different words or symbols to describe them. It still wasn’t easy.

In my experience the esoteric path is work, it is something you do. It is like learning a trade or an art. It is like the difference between how some men join Masonry and some men become Masons. Freemasonry offers plenty of lessons that could be described as esoteric in nature. The work is taking the time to inculcate them. And like any art, there is a pride of accomplishment that is only known to those who do the work.

I certainly encourage all to further explore their relationship with the great Architect of the Universe during these new found hours on our 24 inch gauge. I sent a brief, 30 second or so, video to my craft, in regalia encouraging them to keep each other lifted up in prayers as w spiritual way of unit since we can not physically dwell together in unity while practicing social distancing.

It was received very warmly and I accepted very positive feedback from y DDGM and WM. I encourage you all to do the same; continue in your quest for more light, keep each other lifted up in prayer, and when we cannot meet physically meet on the level, lets do so digitally and spiritually.

Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brothern to dwell together in unity /G\
