That looks like a very interesting idea.I attended a masonic funeral today and the brother was buried in a small country cemetery.Since we masons arrived there before the hearse I wandered around and found an old masonic tomb stone from 1872 the brother was a preacher

Sorry Brother John, I forgot that when I moved it to our Lodge Web Page I did not change the URL.

www.melrose1294.org

Scroll down the left side and you will find a link to TEXAS MASONIC TOMBSTONES

Thank you for going by.

I really like the idea and the site. You did a great job. Whenever we visit a cemetery I look for Masonic tombstones.

Something like this is great and once it grows to some degree and interest, should be taken over by the Grand Lodge History Committee and the Internet Committee. With due credit to Melrose 1294. The History committee could include some basic information about the Brother, if known, such as the Lodge they belonged and years of service.

If you are in Huntsville, go to the cemetery where Bro. Sam Houston is. There are a lot of resting brethren there.

I took this picture while on vacation in Washington DC. Not a Masonic head stone but a head stone of a brother.

Yeah, Oakwood Cemetery is a really nifty place (just don't go anytime close to nightfall-- bad neighborhood).

If in Huntsville, I also recommend visiting the Sam Houston Memorial Museum and see the homes Sam lived in while in Huntsville and visit the town square.

There is a ton of Masonry in this town.
