Brethren!

I am going to be a dad! My girlfriend is 6 weeks pregnant! Any suggestions from older Masons to a fellow young first timer? :eek:hmy:

Congratulations! I have a two and six year old, both boys, and cherish every moment with them! My wife and I are thinking about adopting a baby girl....we'll see. Don't get overwhelmed, things seem to fall in place. BTW, start stocking up on diapers...like now..haha

First off congrats hope you get a lot of sleep now I have a two year old daughter and biggest suggestion is that you take advantage of craigslist and goodwill because they out grow everything so quickly and all baby stuff is expensive the only thing I suggest you buy brand new is a car seat because you don't know if they were ever dropped or in a accident.

Brother BBOC that that is great advice. I have a 4 year old step daughter and the only advice I can give is enjoy it. IT will be fun but hard. When they get older though remember everyone wants to be the cool parent but that is when they need guidance most. My sister has choosen to take the cool parent path with my 4 teenage neices and they have suffered in school and in their personal life. Be the good parent not the cool parent. Just enjoy it the baby may be born in 8 months but will be 18 tomorrow.

This was very unexpected, but now that I learn about the coming of a child, I am excited, anxious and still very nervous. Thank you all for the advice, keep it coming! I am very happy and believe I will gain a degree of maturity with my child!

Congradulations,

I remember my joy and excitement when I learned that I was going to be a father. I ran out and bought all kinds of things for the baby who knew they grow so fast a few weeks later he couldn't fit any of it lol.
