I am pleased to present a copy of the 2007 Mutual Recognition Compact between the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Texas and the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Texas.

This document was rather difficult to obtain, but it is in fact the actual compact signed by both Grand Lodges in 2007.

Thanks Bro. Ashton!

Not to be arguementive, but is it me or does this compact look like it recognizes the MWPHGLofTX as regular and legitimate, then comes back and restricts us from visiting each other with the same compact?

You are correct Dave. This is why we have been fighting to get our hands is we wanted to see for ourselves what it said and I want to say it was not given up easily by anyone we know.

peace out

...which said request in no way is a request to join, merge, meet, interfere, or have visitation between the two jurisdictions and that it is only for the two Grand Lodges to acknowledge and formally recognize each other as legitimate and regular.
Perhaps the Author's definition of legitimate and regular is pertinent at this juncture. Sounds like double speak to me.

English Translation: Equal but Separate.

I read it twice and get the impression that we recognize each other as Brother Masons but restrict visitation between lodges. I see nothing in this compact that would restrict individual Brothers from recognizing each other. Prior to reading this I was under the impression that if a Prince Hall Mason gave me a Masonic grip and I returned it then I would be in violation of GL law, after reading the compact I don't see where that is forbidden.

It doesn't restrict "Masonic Communication" either as we thought before. This is one of the many reasons we were trying to get our hands on it.
