Moon Lodges

How many of you are members of Moon Lodges?
Salado Masonic Lodge is one of the few remaining "Moon Lodges" left in the state of Texas. At one time, before electrification of the rural countrysides, most Masonic lodges were "Moon Lodges," which meant that their meeting calendars were driven by the lunar calendar, not the monthly calendar. Our lodge meets on the "Monday on or before the full moon."

i've heard of them, and think it's neat that some still are moon lodges. from what i've been told almost all lodges were moon lodges at one point way back when nobody had a car or headlights...

i wonder what a stir it would cause when i get to the east if i try to pass a resolution to return to moon cycles for our stated meeting?

I would bet a big stir! There is a moon lodge here in Johnson County as well, I think the name is Caddo-Grove but I could be wrong. I will check on that.

My home lodge here in Mass has been meeting on the Monday on or before the full moon since 1797.

I believe Azle or Springtown is a Moon Lodge. One is I know I just can't remember. So I guess they are a little more popular than I thought.

Hylton #884 is a moon lodge and meets the Saturday on or before the full moon. I believe their charter was issued in 1904.

I honestly can't remember when our charter was issued, but I am the Senior Warden at Burke Lodge #833, a moon lodge located in Burke, TX and we meet on Saturday on or before the full moon. And if you EVER want to see the lodge packed just put in a resolution (probably not the right word, but I've been on the road for 12 hours) to change it, and EVERY member comes out of the woodwork to vote it down.
