This is just a question that I pounder sometimes when I cannot make it to lodge because of my work schedule. How do you split your time of a twelve hour shift amongst a 24 in gauge. I frequently miss lodge because of my rotating shift. It seems mondays and thursdays are the main meeting nights. I only get two of the nights respectively per month. Any suggestions would be considered within reason. :33:

Brother, ALWAYS remember that family and your necessary vocations should come first. As time goes by you will learn to juggle your schedule or maybe even your schedule may change which will enable you to attend lodge more. I look at it this way not attending lodge doesn't make me less of a Mason just as not attending church doesn't make me a non-believer...............it is what is in your heart and how you act.

Reading you loud and clear. I work 7pm to 7am 7 days a week. Fortunately, I can trade a shift sometimes, and attend a meeting. You might check in your community, if there is a "daylight" lodge, you can attend. If there is no such lodge, see about starting one.

I have spent the last four years contemplating the same thing. I finally came to the conclusion that everything can't be a priority. Family, work, fraternity. That's what I focus on now.

Brother,

You can't apply a 3-division-per-day-rule to a day that has 1/2 of it already designated for work - that math will drive you batty. You can't apply this tool in that manner toward what you are trying to use it for, especially when it was not intended to be used in that manner.

To use the TFIG tool in a 12 hour shift situation, your use must be expanded to include several days in an effort to find some balanced average over a few days. That was its purpose - balance between the time you work, refresh and serve!

When you do have time opening up that is not work related, you will have to find resources that fit with your available open time - including Lodges that are open when you are.

I agree with the brethren above. Understand, your situation will change over the years. Children grow, job responsibilities change. Go when you can and keep in contact with as many of the brothers as you can. Everyone understands and most have gone through the same situation at one time or another.

There are also day lodges which you can attend from time to time. And, not being able to attend lodge does not preclude you from continuing to absorb light. Read. Explore the GLoTx library. You can check out books there and read at your pleasure. Depending upon your time, check out a couple of books, read them and return them for a couple more. All you are going to be out is a trip to the post office and three to five dollars every few weeks. Don't forget to throw a few bucks GL's way for the use of such a fine library.

It's what's in your heart that counts.

U can do it!:14:
