Text message app for iphone

Since I rarely use texting, I am looking for a good free app instead of paying. Trying AIM, but having a rough time configuring it to work.

google talk or "gtalk"

do they have that one?

With 2 teenagers at home I had to buy the family unlimited texting plan.

Yahoo! Instant Messenger is a pretty good app. You can send SMS (text messages) from the app. You will just need to have a Yahoo! account to be able to sign in and it is pretty easy to configure. Especially, if whoever it is that you are wanting to text message has a Yahoo! account as well.

Another good thing is if you have the program installed on your computer, you can send text messages from it as well.
