Turning in my Entered Apprentice proficiency this Tuesday. I was hoping to test myself; but my catechism instructor an a close friend who is a Past Master told me that's highly unusual in our jurisdiction. They did, however, tell me to keep seeking more light and recommended that I keep in mind the opportunity to obtain a certificate after being raised so that I can teach the work. (I had mentioned that I was deeply interested in seeking all
the light I could find concerning the catechism and degree work and would love at some point to teach others as they had taught me).

Learning the Questions "AND" the Answers will be of benefit...especially when it comes time to teach others!

Learning the questions along with the answers was the only way I could learn the EA catechism. Guess I'm wired a little strange up there.

I was the same way as well...I had to learn both or it wouldn't make sense in the grey matter...

That was exactly how I learned the esoteric work in all three degrees. In fact, I picked up my first Certificate no more than two weeks after I turned in my MM work and other associated requirements. It does feel a little awkward during the "return" to speak both the question and the answer (most would assume insanity), but the work flows well as a whole and not in part.

I consider myself very lucky that my home Lodge traditonally requires all of it's candidates to learn the questions and answers. I never knew that there was any other option, nor did I ask. I certainly wanted to go through the process the exact same way as the Brethren seated next to me in Lodge! I am now aware that under certain situations my Lodge will allow a Brother to only return the answers (per GL requirement), but I have never seen it done.

Proficiency complete. I will be passed to Fellowcraft next Monday the 23rd at one of our neighbor lodges, Myrtle Grove #352 in Pensacola. Supper at 6... degree to follow.
There were a couple of misspeaks and pauses; but I caught and corrected myself on most of them.

I can see why a friend of mine thought of the Fellowcraft degree as his favorite. The lecture was awesome... certainly alot to digest. I have alot of thinking to do. So much to learn and contemplate.

agreed. I've been teaching my candidates both the questions and the answers. the one tonight doing his EA proficiency will be the first to examine himself in the EA, but whatever, should go well.
