Sharing my excitement

I just found out that I will be teaching one of our newest EA's. While I have never taught before, I have to say that I'm actually excited about it. Looking forward to helping another Brother at the beginning of his journey.

Teaching is a win, win, win, occurrence. He learns the work, you keep the work, and you develop a lifelong bond like no other. Take your time, do it right and enjoy.

Good deal. You'll probably become fairly close over the course of the studies. That's one of the magic wages of masonry.

Remember, everyone doesn't learn at the same pace or the same way. Each has his own unique touch points that must be found and used to import knowledge.

Make a contract with the new brother. What do you need and expect? Here's what I expect from you. Stay on target, discuss and adjust the contract along the way. Learn to be both firm and gentle.

Remember, it's not what you know but what he is able to learn and how. Don't be a bully! Find out what makes each candidate tick and work that toggle switch to his benefit.

Do all this and YOU will gain more light in masonry.

Funny how this ole fraternity works ... isn't it.

Thanks for the suggestions. We will be starting this coming Tuesday.

Of course you are correct about it being a win-win situation. I enjoy the work and do my best to stay proficient. Every bit of practice helps.
