Hey guys, I just thought I would post this up for all to see. I ran across this back awhile and forgot about it. Check the video out... In particular, SR masons might find a few interesting things about the lyrics, especially the chorus: "Turn the key, walk through the gate..."

without further ado, I present you Dream Theater and their single, "A Rite of Passage"

and here's a picture of the EP cover...

I thought I'd post this up here after I saw the Jay-Z post. I've always been a big Dream Theater fan, but this really caught my ear (and eyes)!

Never had seen that video or heard the song. Fun to watch.

Sidebar question that has to do with Masonry inspired music. Brad Paisley is a well known Scottish Rite Mason, does anyone know if any of his songs are Masonic inspired? I got all his stuff on my iPod, but when it comes to Country music I am more of a fan of what is called "Texas Country" than the regular mainstream stuff so I don't really listen to his stuff all that much.

I'm not familiar enough with Bro. Paisley's catalog to say a definitive yes or no, but I will do some lookin! I mostly don't like country, but I can really get into his playing. I'm usually more of a fan of the "texas swing" style, or old school bluegrass.

I'll see what I can find out!

Since someone brought up masonic inspired music, I would like to shamelessly promote my new recording with my band Homespun Remedies. This is our second full length album of original songs, some of which I either wrote or co-wrote. It is available on cdbaby and itunes as well as almost every local c.d. store that sells Texas Music.
You can listen to it free here:

I remember hearing that Angels and Airwaves has some surprisingly Masonic themes-- Tom DeLonge (From Blink 182 to Boxcar Racer and now Angels and Airwaves) is a brother. A sizable chunk of his fanbase is actually upset about his Masonic affiliation, if what I've been reading online is any indication. (http://www.facebook.com/tomdelongeisafreemason)
Honestly, despite photo evidence, I'm still not sure he's really "legit." He's got a lot of merchandise sporting the S&C, or an altered version with an A in the middle instead of a G. Part of me wonders if it's just some youthful zeal he has or if he's trying to cash in on the Masonic mystique. (Sidenote: Utah's Grand Lodge Code prohibits anyone using the S&C as a logo or for marketing purposes to try and get rich. Is this rule or something like it in other jurisdictions?)

I had come across Tom DeLonge's pictures and stuff too. It's tough to tell if he's for real. I'd lean towards 'not a mason', though he may have legitimate interest. The worst it can do is bring us questions from his fans, though, right? I mean, someone saw my S&C lapel pin once and said "OH U LIKE BLINK182?!"

I've also been pointed to "Freestone" too. http://www.free-stone.org

I'd like to see more Masonic influenced music out there, myself.
