Army PCSing. AF&AM to F&AM?????

Bretheren, I am currently in an AF&AM Lodge at Mt. Hiram in Copperas Cove. I have not been raised to MM as I'm still an EA, but not for long. I have orders to go to Ft. Benning, GA in Janurary 2013. I've researched that the Lodge in Columbus, that is close to Ft. Benning are F&AM. Now, is it possible to join their Lodge if I wasn't raised to MM by continuing my degree work as an AF&AM? Or would I have to start all over again?? They are not PHA.
Thanks brothers.

My Brother, I don't believe there is anything preventing you from going from an Ancient Lodge to an F & A. M. as long as the Lodge you're heading to is duly recognized as mainstream. I was born and raised in an F & A.M. lodge here in Washington and have visited many A.F & A.M Lodges throughout the country. They were all very welcoming. The only difference was in the ritual. You'll be fine as long as it's mainstream and recognized. Best of luck to you Brother and travel safe.

I had this happen to me. Check with your WM or Sec. to find out which Lodges are recognized in the area you are transfering to. After you find a Lodge you like the Sec. Of that Lodge will let you know your options I.E. to demit or stay at your mother Lodge. It's a paperwork drill but being a military man I'm sure that's second nature. Good luck and PM me with any questions. Fair winds and following seas. Brian

Bro. Vinny!-

Whaaatt? Your leaving already?! Lol we are gonna have to get together and break bread before you head out, Bro. I have also been trying to figure out a good lodge for a buddy of mine (19K) that is there at Benning right now. He is really wanting to petition and I was looking at that same lodge in Columbus to refer him to.

As for your question, I don't think that you will have too much trouble at all, and don't think that you are going to have to start over. Especially with your current lodge and the lodge there having a lot of military and retired military. Just make sure you get with your Secretary as soon as possible so that you don't have to be handling all the business AFTER you PCS and it all has to go through snail mail.

Thanks Bro Mike!! For sure, we really have to get together. We still have sometime before I leave but its not until January 2013. Are you coming for July 4th at Ft. Hood?
Thanks for you answer. I sure will have to get with the Sec. It's a process but I know its been done many times with the Lodge in Columbus and the Lodges around Ft. Hood area.

I don't know for sure what I am going to be doing for the 4th, Bro. What all they got going on on base this year? I'll probably end up spending the day out on the lake out here and then on the night of the 4th there is a fireworks show in the community my folks live in. Some old retired rich guy that has part ownership in some hug fireworks company puts on a professional grade fireworks show that really competes with the ones that you see in town. The thing I like about it is that there is less than 100 people around to see it. No huge crowds or anything really. Just a bunch of people that pull up in a field and everyone sits in the back of their trucks and watches it...lol But, I dont know yet. Haven't made any kind of official plans yet. What are ya'll doing for the 4th?

I PCS'd From ft.hood and am a member of killeen 1125 and my FC and MM was done courtesy of Steilacoom #2. I have sat in Lodge with Brother cjapgar and he is right. As long as the long is regular and you contact the secretary you should be good.
