Central Texas DeMolay

Last night, I and a few of my Masonic Brothers from Salado Lodge #296 attended the Phantom Warriors Chapter of DeMolay, sponsored by Killeen Lodge #1125.
The DeMolay boys conducted an initiation of one of my Masonic Brother's sons.
All told, there were close to 30 Masons in attendance!
The DeMolay meets on the second and fourth Mondays at the Killeen Lodge Hall.

As a follow up, Salado Lodge now has two very proud DeMolay fathers who will become active with their sons in the Phantom Warriors Chapter of DeMolay in Killeen. Both the new DeMolay boys were quickly put to work in an office!

Quick question about this DeMolay membership. Since I have gotten into Masonry and heard about DeMolay (I wish my father and I knew about it when I was a youngster...lol), I have always wanted a son and wanted to have him involved in DeMolay. This will YEARS down the road since he will be three this year, but figured I would ask while it is on my mind.

If he lives with his mother up in the Denton area (bout four hours from here) and he comes down every other weekend, would I be able to get him involved in DeMolay down here? Or would he have to be a member where he technically resides?

Brother Stedman,
Sorry it has taken so long for a response, but I just saw this post. My answer would be this: depends upon when the Demolay meetings are. I am not sure if the Austin-area Demolay meets on weekends. You should also take into consideration whether he would feel more comfortable going to Demolay where he might know the other kids from Jr Hi and High School.

If you are interested in DeMolay, then I would suggest going to www.txdemolay.org. There is a Chapter Locator on that site and you can learn when and where the different Chapters me I am Chapter Dad Advisor for H. Malvern Marks Chapter. We meet on Thursdays at the Ft Worth Masonic Temple at 1100 Henderson. If you want your son to be Active, then I would suggest him petitioning a Chapter that is close to his residence. If a Young Man joins DeMolay, he needs to be as active as possible and attend Chapter Meetings and events. DeMolay is like any other worthwhile organization, you only get out of DeMolay what you put into it.

Thanks,
