Fellas,
I've done a fair bit of photography over the years. Originally taught myself many moons ago over a whole lot of trial and error, started with film, transitioned to DSLR, then went back to school to learn it more deeply. Taught it at the local community college for a bit. You can see some of my older work here:

That material is dated now but you get an idea of my own personal directions.
A Brother of mine from this site recently got a DSLR and I'm going to be working with him to learn it. It occurs to me that it is just as easy to work with a group to learn this stuff as it is one. And better, really.
I intend to go through a lot of what you would learn in an introductory university course with him, if he can stand it. I figure it will make it a lot more fun for him through the years, and give me a nudge to get back involved with a passion of my own.
If you have a DSLR, and always wanted to know what all those fancy dials do, or how to improve your composition, or how to take cool landscapes, or ultra closeups of flowers, bugs, etc etc then I'm yer huckelberry and now would be a good time.
I figure if we get a group of us we can go through the basics, together, and then push into flash and whatnot. Do weekly little "projects" where we all go out and shoot a similar subject. Then we discuss our results, and get better that way.
Only thing required is a DSLR and some time. No fancy lenses needed, just the basic one that came with your DSLR.
We can delve into post processing and whatnot as well if the group has legs, or even organize some shoots together sometimes.
Mostly gauging interest, give a response if such a thing is up your alley.
S&F,
Michael
