So as some of you might know, I have been looking into Freemasonry for a few months now. I have since picked out a lodge, turned in my petition, and am now waiting for the Investigations to start.

I was at work today and someone asked what I did last night, and I told them “I was at a Christmas partyâ€. They said that was cool and asked where it was. When I told them it was at the lodge I’m trying to get into, they said, “So what, you want to be some illuminati or something?†I kinda rolled my eyes and said, “No, I want to be a Freemasonâ€. Then it started…. Some of the things he said were pretty funny. Finally, when he said that he heard that the Freemasons are trying to take over the world, I responded, “Really, then how come I had to talk to a friend in Seattle to find a Mason to talk to in Texas?â€

That kinda left my buddy with nothing else to say and I just laughed a little.

When people ask me if we're trying to take over the world I tell them we don't want to control everything, just the important stuff. :>

Oddly, the few of my close friends who knew that I was interested in Freemasonry never gave me the whole "ooh secret illuminati world domination cult superpowerz" reaction. Most give me a raised eyebrow, crack a little joke and drop it. Maybe I just have boring friends, hah. I like the line that most lodges can't even agree on what to eat for dinner much less on how to take over the world.

I always say if we're so powerful, why are lodges struggling for numbers? For money? If masons are so powerful, why do some need benevolence? Why don't we all live in mansions with off shore accounts? Why must we obey the laws of our homeland? Why do we believe in universal tolerance, and peace among humankind? I usually get the response " ummmm, well..,," then I cut them off and say do your homework then come talk to me.

You'll be surprised how many masons will come out of the woodworks once you join. I had a large number of my colleagues and people I know that turned out to be members once I started looking for it. Even a family member.
