There are a couple of informative posts on this subject. Search "custom aprons" and you'll find them.

The law reads that non-officers and non-past masters have to wear plain white aprons with no borders or adornment. Now, what your Lodge practices is also a factor. Some Texas Lodges have white aprons with a blue S&C on the apron, etc. They may be fine with you having a semi-custom apron. My Lodge has plain white aprons with a white S&C embroidered on the apron, so I just bought the same with thicker material and an adjustable waist band. It also has a white embroidered S&C on it. But, I'm a stickler to the rules and I think this falls into line with the law.

Happy researching and let me know what you decide to go with.

Art. 274. (313).
Members: Apron. The regulation apron for members of the Lodge shall be of the same dimensions providedfor the aprons of officers of the Lodge and shall be made of white
lambskin without border or decoration; provided, it shall not be mandatory upon any Lodge to provide regulation regalia and aprons until such time as it may be able to do so,
and such apronsmay be made of white cloth.

This is just what the GLOT says in the law book.

I like scialytic's example but also agree with following the rules.

Would like to see the example become permissable through GL and even allow a limited number and size of symbols applied to the master mason's apron.

Are Tranquility lodge or Texas lodge of research aprons allowed to be worn to blue lodge events?

Yes to both. Men have worn both to larger Masonic events such as the Alamo. Also, I have sat in lodge with men that have worn either Apron at a regular stated meeting.

Should I look forward to a proposed resolution next year from your Lodge? :14:

Interesting proposal indeed.

I'll bring it up the to brethren and see what response I get.

I didn't get a response on another thread, so I'll try here:

Would a sojourning Mason be able to wear a decorated apron (acceptable within his home jurisdiction) when visiting a Texas lodge?

Technically not, because you said that you would follow the rules and regs of any GL jusrisdiction that you are visiting, etc., etc.

That being said, I doubt anybody would pitch a fit and they sure as heck wouldn't bring you up on charges. Worst case scenario: We've always got spare white cloth aprons for you to use if somebody gets crotchity...

I'll second what Scialytic says. Whenever we have visiting brethren and they bring their own aprons we always let them wear it. I've never heard about anyone having an issue.
