Feb. I will be receiving my MEM. I've heard mixes reviews on the degree. Some have told me its not as enthusiastic as the other degree, some have said its quite the degree. Anyhow, what are the thoughts of the York rite brethren on this matter?

The Most Excellent Master is a unique degree as it deals with the completion of King Solomon's Temple. If done properly this can be a very impressive degree:

The ceremony of the Most Excellent Master degree is a spectacular and unique degree as it is the only degree which brings to the candidate's attention the completion and the ceremonial dedication of the Temple. This degree emphasizes the importance of reverence. This degree compliments the degrees of Fellow Craft, Mark Master, and Master Mason, and completes the symbolic lessons introduced in each of those degrees in reference to the allegorical reference to building yourself as our operative ancestors built King Solomon's Temple.

Ah yes. I've actually taken that one, I'm just not up to speed on all the fancy abbreviations.
I remember enjoying mine and hope that you will as well. I think there is always lessons to be learned from a degree, but naturally some will be more impressive than others.

Lucky you!

I wish I could remember my MEM degree. I received all my Yorkrite degrees during a day long (emphasis on the long) festival. I went to it directly from work after pulling the better half of a twelve hour night shift. I had a lot working against my memory that day. :(

It's an inspiring degree... Our chapter (Union #2) is co-located in the Grand Lodge & Scottish Rite temple in Little Rock, and has borrowed some of the theatrical stuff to make this really impressive, with the robes, candlelight, and even fire coming down from the heavens... and you ought to see how they do the Royal Arch ;-)
