Brothers,

I have been "lurking" this forum for around 6 months. I was interested in becoming a Freemason for years. Finally in the fall of 2012 I submitted my petition, and have since been initiated and passed. I will be raised in two weeks. My home lodge is Eureka North Warren No. 594 (metro Detroit area), in the great state of Michigan. I just wanted to thank Blake, the mods, and everyone who regularly posts on this forum - this board has provided me with some great information and insight. In a day where Masonic misinformation is rampant, this forum is a beacon of light.

Welcome aboard brother. May your journey be blessed with a well lighted path.

I trust the brethren in Detroit and further Michigan will provide all the light you need.

Stay active. Go back over your work and grab a candidate to teach. When you are stumped go to a learned brother to help.

Offer to serve on committees and projects. Late begin running the chairs. Still later, join an appendant body and grow in your knowledge and light.

Read masonic literature and think through what you read. Know thyself brother.

Welcome to the fraternity.

God bless and keep you and yours.

Thank you brothers for your support and advice. Of course I trust in the members of my lodge to guide me in a proper path. I am being raised tomorrow evening, and am extremely nervous and excited! I may puke as I'm getting duly and truly prepared. I purchased a beautiful vintage ring from a pawn shop in the Detroit area, I can't wait to put it on.

I have been raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason. It was honestly one of the greatest experiences of my life. Very moving, very meaningful. The brethren of my lodge perform ritual pretty darn well, so it was easy to submerge myself in the story/allegory. Amazing.

Now of course I can't help but think I have a life of work ahead of me. I am certainly still an extremely rough ashlar. It has just begun.
