What would you like to see changed in the Masonic experience?

Something other than business at stated meetings?

    Texas KOP

I first thought "Knights of Pythias", myself. They used to run a lot of orphanages and retirement homes. They are an independent fraternal order, though.

    Bar Sinister Clandestine Hazing

Hazing is already defined in several jurisdictions, actually.

    God v Science

By the by, I am a Christian. I just despise using lies in the alleged service of Christ or of God. They all ultimately serve Satan. If you don't care if lies are used in such a way, then why bother pretending to any moral code at all?

    God v Science

Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. Truth DOES NOT MATTER to believers! All you have to do is cite possible lies made by purported nonbelievers, and that makes any amount of lying by believers 100% good, moral, upright, virtuous, and just!

    God v Science

Ah! I see! So, then, the Christian virtue is to point to someone else's sins and that means that the Christian is free to commit the same sins! Just pointing at someone else's sins makes a sin into a virtue! Adultery? Just point to someone else committing adultery and God will adore adultery...

    God v Science

Who was the scientist? What was the institution? Is this little story an event or just a pretty little lie made up so some people could congratulate themselves on how smart they think they, themselves, are? Let me guess, the story is just a lie, and the lie is used to attempt to bolster...

    God v Science

Who was the "scientist"? What was his name? What was the institution? When did this happen? Did this all actually happen or is it just a conveniently made-up lie?

    Symbol?

It doesn't matter what the original "meanings" of the parts might be. Tossing them into a symbol salad has stripped them of meaning in this context and they are now purely visual elements, each devoid of meaning.

    Does Religion Cause Violence?

What is it about politics that makes otherwise reasonable people justified in committing violence? What is it about an artificial social construction like race that, etc.? What is it about SPORTS that makes, etc.? Singling out "religion" as one excuse out of many is inherently dishonest...

    God v Science

This "written thing" lies severely about "science". However, if that's what some so-called "believers" need to congratulate themselves over how much better they are than everyone else, no amount of truth can alter their distorted stereotypes of "science" and "scientists".

    Symbol?

It looks like "symbol salad" to me. A bunch of different things randomly grabbed and thrown together with no meaning at all.

White House Petition Concerning Bogus Freemasonry

Newsbot is posting with white text, which is on a light gray background. Can this be fixed?

    Does Religion Cause Violence?

Probably the gentlest man I ever met was a Muslim, and he could show how and was strongly of the opinion that those who used the Koran to rationalize violence were going to be treated very severely by God (Allah).

    Does Religion Cause Violence?

This thread has turned into dogpile on the Christians, which is very common. Yes, there are Christians who have done very bad things. You know what, I bet if we went a-digging, we could find Freemasons who have also done very bad things, and where does that leave those here who delight...

    Does Freemasonry accept Catholics?

You flatly stated that your standard for validity of whether or not something (like the Catholic Church) should be honored was whether or not it paid your bills. That would also apply to God, in such case.

Is Taoist Thought Antithetical to the Pursuit of Freemasonry?

Tao cannot be pursued because Tao is already here. To pursue Tao is to chase yourself in a circle until you die from exhaustion. You will never find it. Tao is about doing without doing. Striving is not Tao, it pulls you away from Tao.

    Little restaurants part 2.

Since the old "hole in the wall" thread got very long, I'll start a new one. What new or newly-renewed purely local restaurant have you come across lately that really impresses you? Mine is "Mermaid's in Rockport". It just re-opened after the old management ran it into the ground. I stepped in...

    Does Religion Cause Violence?

You must be one of those science worshipers. Don't worry, most people get over that one, too. I'm a scientist, not a science worshiper. I have only pity for the science worshipers.

    Does Freemasonry accept Catholics?

1: If "paying your bills" is the criterion, then you should simply be an atheist. God isn't paying your bills, either. 2: Claims found via Google about popes or cardinals being Masons always link to pages that are simultaneously saying that Masons are evil and Catholics are evil. Therefore, if...
