Aboard Navy vessels, they sometimes conduct "Transitional Lodges" were the Masons aboard ship convene an informal Lodge under no particular jurisdiction while at sea. The WM might be from California, while the SW is from Texas, and so on down the line. Each does the Work as he was taught in his...
This is a jurisdictional issue. The state level is as high as it goes for Blue Lodge Masonry. There is go Grand Lodge of the USA as such. AASR, York Rite and nearly all the appendent bodies have a national Grand Lodge or High Council of some sort.
The initiatic experience of Freemasonry, when conveyed precisely as stated in our ritual, contains all the elements necessary for candidates to attain an understanding of Masonic Light, even when those providing the Degrees do not themselves fully understand this. This necessitates that the...
Not that it really matter for our purposes of discussion, but the SCOTUS has preciously ruled that a Yamaka is not a hat, but is instead is a religious symbol. It allows Jewish lawyers to wear them in open court without protest.
Visit the Rosicrucian Temple there. Don't mention it if you happen to be a member of SRICF. They are grouchy about that. The Winchester mansion is interesting too.
KCLEE, are you in the Kansas City area? If so, we need to talk.
I can honestly say that the body of Freemasonry has never disappointed me, but its members have. I am sure the same can be said by some of my Brothers about me. The best advice I can offer is to put your faith in the Craft. The...
I do not see any major conflicts. I have discovered a few misinterpretations and have lead to erroneous thinking, but it is usually something very minor. The example that comes to mind is the definition of the word "cowan" and the way we use it in ritual.
I think we went in opposite directions around the Earth only to collide in agreement somewhere near Sri Lanka. You cheated! You have the rotation of the Earth in your favor.
Let me explain, Brother, because after reading it again, my post came out more jaded than I intended. What I am trying to point out is the basic building blocks of Freemasonry and of Religion. Both require dedication of your time in order to get much out of them. Church is usually attended on a...
Your 3 paragraph diatribe on what makes a law a law still fails to answer the basic question I originally proposed: What does one's not philosophically believing in a physical law make it any less true?
To be Devil's Advocate: Does this mean that if I believe the Earth if flat and the sun rotates around the Earth, the sun will not rise tomorrow? The Laws of Physics are LAWS — whether I believe in them or not. Philosophy can hold many positions and opinions, but none of them can keep the sun...
A conflict exists between people who confuse religion with spirituality. Religion and Church is mainly ritual and dogma. Much of the outward appearance of Freemasonry is displayed in its ritual and dogma. People are bound to find differences/similarities and conflicts. The bottom line, IMHO...
I had a Novice, Conditional General and Advanced. The only one I never held was Technician or Technician Plus. Back before the VEC Program, we used to have to sit before the FCC examiner to test, other than for the Novice and Conditional General. When I got my Conditional General, I overheard a...
In Kansas, it is more up the local lodges as to what they are willing to put up with. As the Secretary, it is mostly up to my discretion once the dues are beyond 2 years unpaid. Grand Lodge is willing to carry them forever, but will bill the local lodges $26 per captia on each member.
