    EA Catechism

I am steadily working my way through the catechism and have started practicing the questions in addition to the answers. It's strange; but for me, learning the questions ties it together and helps me retain more. Any other EAs out there experience this?

    EA's and the Book

My catechism instructor was telling me that our cipher here in FL is first letter of each word only. Is this the case in TX as well?

    EA's and the Book

If I may respectfully weigh in. Personally, I am enjoying the work of the EA catechism immensely. My instructor mentioned there is a first letter cipher available; but I prefer mouth to ear. My goal is to learn the answers AND the questions in this more traditional manner. I will, however...

    Religion and the Masonic Lodge

What if you are two brothers of different sects who enjoy discussing each other's view of God, however different they may be? I was recently enjoying a meal with a Muslim friend of mine and was thoroughly enjoying the conversation tht went along with it. Obviously, we disagree on much; but that...

    Attending Church Inquiry

Keep in mind my lodge is in the buckle of the Bible Belt... If I had told them I practiced Bhuddism or Shintoism, it wouldn't have been a problem. Its just the fact the main religion practiced in the community wherein the lodge is located happens to be Christianity. If I was petitioning in Saudi...

    Attending Church Inquiry

I may have to respectfully disagree and play a little bit of the devil's advocate here. During my petitioning and investigation, I was asked how active I am in my church and how often I attend. That being said, I was also told, "We don't care which plane you take; but it is important you be at...

HELLO BROTHERS! Any Advice on DENTON TEXAS?

Gentlemen, I am a man who loves good barbeque. While in Denton, ensure you stop in at The Smokehouse over on Ft Worth Drive. Its real good.

    New Entered Apprentice

I enjoy learning it. Its an understatement I know; but Masonry is a tremendously enjoyable journey... sometimes the seemingly tedious details are the most rewarding and profitable ones.

Have you read the entire Bible?

I actually have an affinity for the King James. Probably because its what I grew up on. My favorite Bible is my 1611 Edition King James Version. The old language imparts a certain feeling of reverence to me. The way I see it though, the best version of the Bible is the one you'll read.

    New Entered Apprentice

Last Tuesday, I was entered an apprentice. It was a beautiful ceremony for three initiates (including me) from two lodges. There wasn't even a meeting scheduled for any other reason. I feel very honored to be accepted into this fellowship... this brotherhood. I can't put into words how honored...

    Passed ballot

So... Today is Texas Independence Day... Happy Birthday to God's country. My wife and little ones made Dr Seuss cupcakes for me (its his birthday too);I had an inflight emergency and successfully got the helicopter on deck with no furthe injury to the airframe or anyone/anything else; and OH...

    One step further

The gents from the investigative committee came by today. Other than the fact my three year old son missed his nap earlier and was acting out a bit and his six year old sister was showing off in front of company, I enjoyed their visit. I like the fact that they made my wife an active player in...

Looking For Some Opinions On A Situation

My Dad was a Knight and had many good friends he knew to be Masons. They all got along great. All that being said, we were, at the time, members of a pretty laid back parish (Immaculate Conception of Denton, TX.

    Completing the petition

I've had an interesting experience at the lodge where I petitioned. I know one Past Master very well; but the gentlemen who signed my petition were the WM and his son, both whom I've only met once. My other references are stationed in Japan; and they didn't seem too concerned about it when I...

    Violations of the Masonic Oath

In the Bible, Christians are instructed to not take one other before a magistrate and when there is a grievance between them and their fellow Christian to settle it among one another even before presenting their tithes and offerings to the Lord. How it must grieve the Great Architect that his...

    waiting game

Past Master just told me it would probably be at least a month after my petition is read before I hear anything from the Investigative Committee. It's gonna be a long few weeks.

    Cincinnati Chili Recipe

In Okinawa, the locals eat short grain rice as a staple. If you cook it properly, it comes out somewhat "sticky"... it's delicious. I hope none of my fellow Texans will think too ill of me when I say I MIGHT have ladeled some chili over the top; and I MIGHT have enjoyed it .
