As others have pointed out, it sounds like what your father may have unfortunately experienced was at the hands of an irregular/clandestine lodge, and not anything that would be experienced by someone going through a regular, legitimate Masonic Lodge. As you mentioned being in Virginia, if you...
Great job getting involved right away! I'm more and more convinced that Lodges lose some of their newer Brethren due to not getting them involved in the work early enough and instead, letting them sit on the sidelines merely observing for too long. Enjoy the new position!
Creeping up on almost 2 years since he was last on. Has anyone ever had any contact with him since? He was literally everywhere on here when he joined.
Brother_Steve, looking back at my own old posts here and realized that I never caught what that third site you were speaking of was. Granted we're talking over 5 years ago now, but any chance whatever it was is still active and you wouldn't mind sharing?
So there are already some good threads in this section that have helped me to know what some good, further Masonic reading would be - crono's list, the 5 you couldn't live without, etc. However, I wanted to ask a more specific question. I consider myself still quite fresh only having been raised...
(I'm sure you're past all this by now, but just in case not...) There's a point in the initial setup, and it's not real obvious at all, you're given the option to decline and use a local account only. But it was pretty vague when it gave you the choice. It was almost like you had to start to...
I listen to the Masonic Roundtable regularly myself. Great group of guys and great discussions on a wide range of Masonic topics. They have some excellent special guests now and then as well too. Good stuff all around!
Thanks again everyone! We've still been receiving a great response since putting it online, with several inquiries regarding membership directly from the site (a couple of which I believe are now in the pipeline for us to be voting on petitions soon), and even a request to rent the building for...
Yay for awesome Christmas presents from your wife! (Granted she asked what I wanted, but she didn't have to get it. Still she did though!)
I had decided I wanted a simple, clean, signet style and I loved my apron from Brother Patrick Craddock, so when it came ring time, I went right back to his...
Thanks for the kind words Brothers!
@Txmason - I used WordPress to design the site. Unfortunately I haven't heard of Weebly before myself, so I'm afraid I may not be too much help. What sort of assistance were you looking for? Feel free to shoot me a private message and I'll be happy to answer...
Well, I just thought I'd stop by the thread I started here and share a final update. Last month I decided to just go for it and ordered the plates. Today they were waiting for me in the mailbox! I still think they're pretty great looking plates. Simple and clean, not too busy. I'll let you all...
Thank you! It was actually built using WordPress which I would probably describe more as a "platform" than anything. It was originally a blogging tool, but has now become much more capable through plugins, themes and plenty of other available manipulation. You can get it to do pretty much...
Interesting. His lodge is listed on the official MWPHGLoTX. So since I'm still pretty new to everything, what happens in such a situation as this? Should the MWPHGL not have done something by now if they've gone that long with no elections?
Forgot to mention... etsy.com, be sure and check there as well. Lots of options, many handmade and a lot of times there are one of a kind vintage ones.
