I've asked many ddgm's this question and none seem to to know

why is the moon facing backwards ?

I am hoping some brother might know the answer.

Lesser Light

View Masonic symbolism on the intent of the lesser light and correlate it to the responsibility of the deputy to the grand master and the craft. As with any aspect of Masonic teaching inference is subjective in nature but you will be able to gain a perspective of this symbolism. The lesser light has a veiled and seldom explored part of the craft, however it's importance cannot be denied throughout history and today. Good luck with your research. Finding the answer is more fulfilling than been given an opinion

I can think of two reasons but I'll wait for you to see if you can figure it out first.

Is it reverse from the S&C w/moon of the Jr. Deacon? I have never noticed.

I know there is the quadrant as a PM. I suppose I should pay more attention. I am friends with at least six past DDGMs and should know what their aprons look like. (SIGH!)

"Backwards" compared to what? The JD apron?

Not all GLs have the same emblems, so I'm at a loss without pictures.
