Is there a time frame on how quick you can apply for dual membership after being raised? I have went through the degrees at my home lodge, but my new hometown lodge put a lot of time into teaching me the work as a courtesy. I would like to apply for dual membership but do not want to ruffle feathers at my home lodge?

Don't think that should be an issue. I think the secretary has to give you a certificate of good standing, and I'm not sure if that has to be voted on in open lodge. But if it does and you want to make your intentions clear just forward a letter to the secretary to read at the next stated. That should clear out any possible misunderstandings.

Why would feathers be ruffled? IMO you are not disrespecting your home lodge but showing your appreciation/thanks to the other lodge for their courtesy work.

I agree, but I've also seen how masonry can work in some lodges. We can be a little possessive about our members some times ;)

I am in the process of pluraling a month and a half after being raised. For me, I debated which of these lodges to petition in the first place, and planned from the outset to join both. I did not receive any negative feedback from my home lodge. In fact, many of the brothers were happy I was doing it. For me, it's just that much more light to recieve.

Thanks for the comments. I put my application in for a letter of good standing from home lodge. I was told that the home lodge secretary and wm will issue one and send back to new lodge. Then with that in hand they will read a application for affilitation at next stated meeting after receiving it. It is not a speedy process takes a couple of months, is what he said.

I was going to comment before I read all the way down, but, now I think I will anyway. TeeHee. I was going to say, no farther apart than Glen Rose and Granbury are, you should be able to just jump in the pick up and run over to Glen Rose and talk to Bro. Nichols(sp?), but since you already have his letter of good standing, there won't a need for that. BTW, I met Bro. Brad Nichols(sp?) when he was WM over there 2011-2012(I think). Also, all it takes is the usual voting sign and not a formal ballot on affilliation, FYI.

Bro. Bennylee, I just looked on Mapquest to see where you hail from and now I see why you might want to affiliate with Granbury.

Brother Vance, I like both lodges extremly well. I feel as they are both my home. Granbury is closer and much larger. It is very proficient in ritual and procedure. It can be a little intimidating for me. Glen Rose is small, but it has held my first impressions of masonry which I hold dearly. They both have benefits that can help me contribute to the good of the fraternity. With my work schedule(rotating shift) I like to be able to do atleast one thing masonic a week. By being a member at both I can do this without having the sd introduce me as a visitor.:D he is starting to forget I am a visitor. The process is just slow going.

My best friend was initiated at Glen Rose in September of 2011 when Bro. Nichols was WM. He is a pipeliner and has had a hard time getting someone to get with him on his instruction, so he is still an EA. Right now he is working of down in Bro. Bowden's neighborhood, between Victoria and Goliad. He has been in touch with a few of the Brothers from the Goliad Lodge and I think he said that one or two of them are helping him along. His wife works at the nuke plant over there and they live in Glen Rose. Maybe, when it comes time for his Raising, you can attend. I will let you know. That way we can get together face to face, if that would be ok. Maybe you even know them, Lance and Lori Matthews.

Absolutely, I dont recall the name but I dont know every brother there. There was a little time when I was off at school that I cant account for. If I can help, participate, or get anything on my end let me know. I am always willing.

Not exactly, Bro. Vance. It is at the option of the WM unless an investigation is requested. If any member requests investigation, then a committee must be formed to perform such and report at the next stated meeting, at which time the affiliation must be balloted upon. See Art.'s 386 & 387.
