    STOP WHAT YOUR DOING!!!!!!!

Sir you haven't been initiated yet. Stop Googleing!!! Google is your worst enemy right now.

Phoenix is a great website but is PHA in nature, you being from England the stuff you find wont match up. all you're going to do is confuse yourself and or take away some of the surprise of the rituals that you will be going through here soon.

Seriously, stop researching! There is nothing that you need before your Initiation that you don't already have. That was proven when your Petition was voted on.
Now you wait. We all waited. But, please; don't read, don't study, don't research.

In English Masonry there're not loads of stuff to memorise for progressing the first three degrees, you normally start learning the rituals after you decided you get on the line.
If you really want to read something before to start, the bible seems to be a good one but I cannot see any benefits for you to look in too deep before you are initiated

Thanks MBC, I think I'll leave it as it is until my initiation. Once I'm in I'll start to learn.

The only thing I would like to ask is: what are the rights of Entered Apprentice ? Will I be allow to attend the meetings or visiting other lodges ?

    You are welcome.
According to the Book of Constitution of the United Grand Lodge of England, which is the governing body of English Masonry, once you are an Entered Apprentice, you are a subscribing member of the Lodge. (Rule 166)
You have the rights of wearing your white lamb skin apron, and be seated at a designated place in any Lodges. You are allowed to attend the meetings of your own lodge, and visit any lodges within the jurisdiction as long as you are personally known to one of the brethren present and vouched for.
If the lodge is opened in a higher degree then you are requested to leave the lodge for a short while.

I have some ritual books that my grandfather (MM) owned, and it's taken every ounce of willpower I have to not look at them until I am raised. I'm trying my hardest to just keep my focus on my upcoming proficiency exam (this Friday) and not even think about the next degree yet.

That's a very simple reason, you are not yet in that grade to receive the communications of that degree.
Also there are different secrets and teachings in different degrees.

Thank you for the EC specific information. It's good to have well-versed Brethren from various constitutions in the forum.

As the other Brothers have already stated Google is your worst enemy right now. Patience is very important to Masonry. You need not research anything outside of the history of Masonry, the history of Masonry, in your country, your city, and maybe the history of the Lodge you wish to join. For those things you need not do a Google search, as the info is available on any Grand Lodge website.

Have you petitioned a Lodge? If so, which Lodge, and what is the current status of your petition?

Actually most of the stuff on the internet are American-based, so even if he did read something, it's not the same in EC.
But just don't try to read it before the ceremonies.
