Once you get settled in Butte, I'd suggest you check the website for the Grand Lodge of Montana & see what local Lodges are located near you & when they meet. Then, go visit & get to know the members. Most Grand Lodges have a residency requirement (6 months in Texas) that you'll need to meet, so there's no point in getting in a hurry. Once you've found a Lodge with which you think you'd be compatible and you've met the residency requirement, ask for a petition to join.

Here's the lodge locator for the GL of MT - http://www.grandlodgemontana.org/directory.html

My Julian mentioned being in the military and going "back" to Butte. Some jurisdictions count active duty stints serving out of state as being still resident if you are from there. Probably technically means you list them as your home of record.

I suggest you go and ask if your service interrupted the residency requirement. Tell them you want a petition as soon as they are willing after you have established residency. There are generally no invitations to become a Mason so the only way to join is to ask for a petition. Asking for a petition is best done by showing up at a lodge before they have a meeting and meeting the brothers.

Just checking if you realize your picture in your profile is sideways. As you progress through your disagrees we'll help you stand uprightly.

Note to self - I need to download my picture. I should probably just use my one from LinkedIn as that's a recent one.

You'll likely have to do it on your computer, save it, then re upload it.

Young Mr. Ayoub, you should be able to find a lodge near you by going to the website of the Grand Lodge of the state in which you live and click on their lodge locator. It should give you information about any lodges near you; addresses, meeting times, etc... Pick one you think you might feel comfortable going back and forth to and visit it on a meeting night, if you are able to, and get to know some of the brothers there. When you are comfortable with them, ask for a petition. Masonry does not recruit, you must ask to join. It might take a couple of times asking to get a petition, but it will be well worth the wait. If you really want to become a Mason, don't let them forget who you are.

Attempt number one failed to upload the file from my LinkedIn profile. Saved as a smaller JPG file 320x212 pixels. Attempt number two failed to upload file. Will poke at it a bit.

Hi, my name is Nick and I wish to join the Freemasons. I'm very eager to join and feel like I would make a great member. I'm 21 years old so I should be able to join most lodges. The only problems I'm facing right now is; I don't know any Freemasons that could refer me and I'm moving to St. Petersburg in the near future and currently living in Tallahassee, Florida. Do I have to be dedicated to one lodge or join here and attend the lodge in St. Petersburg? I'm so eager to join and can't stand the wait. If anyone could give me advise or a contact I would much appreciate it. Thank you.
