I remember the first time I heard the story of Rosewood. It was told to me from memory by a black man who had become my best friend. As I listened I realized that he was sharing an oral tradition that had been passed down in his family for generations. Listening to him gave new meaning to the phrase "mouth to ear". It was a "secret history", if you will, that was stored in the memories of those who had learned it. Stored in memory because the powers that be didn't like the story and didn't want it told. As I study history today I see how often this has happened.
To answer your question, no I have not seen the movie and I do not intend to. To be successful a movie they will have to tell the story in a certain way, with certain elements emphasized and certain elements omitted. I prefer to remember the story as it was told to me, as a part of an oral tradition.
