Out of State Affiliation

If the nearest valley in my state is much further than a valley in a neighboring state would I be allowed to join the out of state valley? If allowed would it be in any way taboo or a topic of gossip? I could join in my state though I feel I would be able to attend more at the closer valley. For reference the out of state valley is 2 1/2hrs away while the in state is 4 1/2hrs away in good weather, there's a mountain pass between here and there.

I was a Wisconsin Mason living in Florida and joined a valley there. And I am still a member in the Florida Valley though I now live in Maine. I really need to affiliate closer!) I doubt it will be a problem. Reach out to the Valley you want to join and explain the situation.
