Refreshment Recipe

    Local fish frys are always fun, theyre a great way to socialize with the brothers and families. Haddock or halibut are great fish for battering and deep frying. They are flaky and have a less fishy taste. The batter in my opinion the darker the beer the better. My favorite for the batter is guiness. Try it out, and share it!
    Beer batter
    4 cups flour
    1/2 tbsp of fast acting yeast
    2 cans of guiness
    Salt and pepper

    Whisk flour, yeast, beer, salt and pepper. Adjust thinness to own likeness. Think crispy batter should thinly coat the back of a soup spoon
    For a deep crunch the batter should be as cold as possible

    20 years or so ago, i belonged to a German group that did periodic fish fries, and used a homemade beer batter... the recipe for which I had forgotten... This is pert near it, only they used a little different, and a little more spice. Many thanks!!
