    This is a receipt signed by Prince Hall himself on May 30, 1800

    Transcription [corrections mine]:

    "Boston May 30, 1800
    Received of the African Lodge Ten Dollers [dollars] in part pay on a account as wittness My Hand
    Prince Hall"

    In coming days, I intend to post more pieces like these directly from the African Lodge records and microfilm.
    This will allow Brothers, PHA and MS to view some of those handwritten records of African Lodge of Boston and Philadelphia, and get a look first hand at some of the minutes.
