The purpose of DI and DDGM

The purpose of both is of course to help. But whether they do or not has a lot to do with their own attitude. A little humility goes a long way. Its going to be a common situation for the DDGM and/or the DI to find Brothers in a Lodge who have as much or more experience and knowledge. In the case of one particular DI, his willingness to accept help from me, his student, on one small point, was the tipping point in our relationship. I now welcome any input he offers and accept nearly everything he tells me without question. Even though he has the appointment and I don't, he treats me as an equal.
