I think it would be very wise for us to have a WhatsApp platform for all Brethren, Any other views

It's a messaging app owned by Facebook that supports end to end encryption. We use it at lodge for the officers to arrange and discuss rehearsals and the like.

Can't see it offering anything over text messages... At least for lodge work.

The only improvement over text messages is it allows you to create group chats, which is how we use it. It's also free, although most phone contracts over here generally have unlimited texts anyway.

Groups can also be created on any iPhone/Android messaging app.

Probably everybody already knows, in which case disregard my post.

Facebook sells your data to – among others – China.

The encryption only applies to https protocol.

When they sell data, it's not encrypted.

Do not have anything on Facebook that has even the slightest level of confidentiality.

I dislike WhatsApp and any other app/website that increases chattering that intrudes into my higher-priority activities.

I still have to come across anything that these apps do, that cannot be done by email and messengers. The opposite is quite true though.

We use Whatsapp for our lodge. Its great and I love it for that purpose,,,
I agree.. I find this web site (myfreemasonry) great and fit for purpose and already have too much traffic to my phone. I actually very much dislike WhatsApp for 1:1 communication and general chatter. If its going to message my phone, it needs to be a very high priority..

BUT - that doesn't mean that just because its not for me, it might not be for others..
