LOL... Didn't have that problem at the time. However, my future wife is very supportive of my work in the Lodge. :D

My Father-in-law is a Mason, as well as many family friends on both sides, so it was not a problem. She enjoys the time we spend with others when one of the local Lodges has a function. She has not yet agreed to Eastern Star though. Then again, I had been a Ham Radio Operator MANY years before she decided to go for that. Patiently waiting...

That was a lot of years ago.. ! but she knew her grandfather was a mason.. ! she was more curious.. ! would always ask questions.. ? but when she joined Easterstar.. she loved it and is very active in it and that took a lot of questions out of it.. ! and nites when I had degrees there were not may questions.. ! after a lot of years she talked me into joining Easterstar.. ! I am not active but go to all her meetings with her.. she is sec.. and like all sec she thinks she runs the place.. ! but I sit in the corner and keep peaceful.. !

She was leery at the time -- supporting it because it's what I wanted to do, but with serious misgivings. She thought masons were mostly old men who were up to no good, and somehow allied with the KKK!

She now knows that we're actually shapeshiftng aliens who control the world! :D
Seriously, she's now fine with it -- seeing that her initial fears were completely and totally unfounded. In fact, she finds our history fascinating.

I was initiated a month before I met my fiancee. When things started to get serious, I told her I was a mason (at the time I was a fellowcraft) and she was ho hum about it not really knowing anything about it. After I was raised, I told her I wanted her to come to the stated meetings with me. She was hesitant at first, but at the first meeting she went to, a wife of a pm took charge of her and said "honey, after the meal, when they go upstairs to do their meeting, you come sit with us." Afterwards I asked her what she thought; she had a blast. She now goes to all stated meetings, open lodges, and award ceremonies. She loves stated meeting as much as I do, if not more. She puts it this way: "we have your family, we have my family, and we both now have our masonic family." Once we get married she wants to join the easter star.

My wife told me that I did not have time for it. I am involved in the scouting program as a leader and at my church as a Sunday School Teacher. She also went on the Internet and told me "they better not make you a devil worshiper"

Now she is "cool" about it. I make sure I finish my "honey do" list so that she has nothing to complain about. I have a 9yr old and a 3 yr old so she is limited in what she can do with me at the lodge. She does however enjoy going out with the lodge every other month when we go to a restaurant or something.

The only Mason my wife knew beforehand was my dad. And he is great representative for our fraternity. So when i finally petitioned, she was only surprised that I waited so long.

She was skeptical about me joining the Shrine, just because she thought I would not fit in with the old, rich men. After I had a blast at my Shrine initiation, I think she was relived that we had not spent $300 on a funny hat that I would never wear again.

Mine didn't have a problem with it. We have always had our separate interests in addition to our mutual ones. She did tell me that, when I was learning my EA work, my eldest son asked her if I had joined some kind of cult. She just said: "Boy, you know your daddy better'n that!"

Jack, what did you mean that secretaries "think" they run the Lodges/Chapters? ;-)

Mine didn't have a problem, since her daddy is the one who escorted me in. Now she thinks I married her to get to him. At our Family night she asked when do we get to start protecting "TREASURE"

My wife was fine with it. Her father is Mason so it was all good.

I just heard that Jack is getting out of the corner and is going be installed as Worthy Patron on the 20th.How's a Worthy Patron like a body at a funeral? You can't hold the affair without him, but nobody expects him to say much.

AMEN.. ! The eastern star if very interesting.. ! its clear its a Masonic organization and they do very good work.. ! but in most cases they don't expect much input from the Masons.. ! hehe.. !

Yes will be Worthy Patron.. ! not sure how this is going to work out but the old ladies seem to be happy about my sitting in that chair and not saying much.. ! been married for a lot of years and understand how that works.. !

But if wives are interested please have them join.. ! they will enjoy it.. ! and it gives them a touch of masonary.. ! even if you don't join.. ?
