    Felony Record

Glad to be of assistance ;-) As I see it now, the law is the law (not much we can do unless those vested with that authority are compelled or impelled to change it). Depending on the language of the law (which I don't know), either the interpretation could be "what is currently viewed as a...

    Felony Record

Back to an earlier point: Should the "felony" be in the current frame-of-reference (i.e. I got busted with 2 joints 20 years ago which was a felony then, but current law deems it as a misdermeanor), or historical (i.e. you had a felony regardless)? That is a great point that was brought up and...

    Felony Record

You flatter me! He was an amazing man. What a story. And that is a pretty recent photo. Skip, the law is the law until it is changed. Those are rules that I will soon be abiding by in my Masonic pursuits. As a Christian I agree with you regarding internal qualifications of a man, but this...

    F&AM and AF&AM

    Felony Record

This is a very interesting discussion. Bro. Steadman, you mentioned timeframes as part of the determining factor. Is that written into the Texas Masonic Law? I would be interested to know if there are any exceptions. It would be neat if there was a way that if the WM of the petitioned Lodge...

AF&AM in Bagram, Afghanistan Great find!

    Lodge differences

As for "traditional," that shouldn't be a problem. Maybe post the Lodges you are interested in and some of the more knowledgeable Brothers can ensure that the Lodge is legit (or "recognized"). That is very important. It probably isn't an issue, but better safe than sorry. There are some...

    Knights of Mecca

Was just at Lodge dinner and we have The Knights of Mecca Raising a MM tonight. What a dapper and jovial group of guys! I am absolutely impressed! I hope they will be available for my Degree. That would be superb! For those that don't know, these Brothers are from Hella Shrine in Dallas...

    Lodge differences

Going to dinner can be intimidating at first. You will be welcomed. Ask for a petition and keep going to their dinners. When the time is right, drop the petition and wait for the ride. Research is the most important thing. You may not find much, but the meeting times and location are crucial...

Views on a Travelling Entered Apprentice

Interesting, so as a Texas EA or FC you are not to inform or imply to others (even MMs outside your Lodge) that you are working through the Degrees? I guess I'll learn more on Wednesday. I will be sure to visit only with those in my Lodge I trust...mainly Mentors (one of whom I mentioned...

    Montana Grand Master Removed

Worth Repeating I decided to read through these posts again after reading the letter. I felt the Brother Porter's sagacity in this post was worth the second post of it. May the Brothers in Montana flourish from the shadows of these incidents...

That is a rule I need to know. Thanks! :-) I just sent RW Hefley an email. We'll get it worked out.

Good points. I'd imagine most Stated Meetings open in the MM Degree. In DC I was thinking more about seeing the architecture and Lodge internally. Maybe I can arrange for a visit while the Lodge is not Working. That's probably what I'll do. I'll work with RW Hefley and see what he's got going on...

Tri-State Masonic Degree Celebration in Oklahoma 10/19-21

Anyone know if travellers are welcome to observe? Not sure how much space is available for these types of things... (I'll be sure to have turned in my proficiency prior...don't want to get confused by the subtle differences. I also don't want to miss the opportunity to watch a Degree Work...

That is a very interesting point. I wasn't expecting that...but there is definitely wisdom there. After hearing your thoughts, the Austin trip may be pushing it. Being in a hotel without family is the perfect time for me to focus like a crazed boar. My D.C trip will be pretty soon after, but...
