Yeah, it varies from Grand Lodge to Grand Lodge in the US as well. Really can only be counted on to be the same within a particular state. Hence, dues cards.
Sometimes it varies from lodge to lodge, although it's certainly not supposed to.... :p
I would imagine because, in the historical chivalric orders, the head of the order was often called the Grand Master. Such as Grand Master DeMolay. They had the title first, before blue lodge did. :)
It's better to think of it as privacy. When a church's Administrative Council or Pastor/Parish Relationship Committee meets to have a discussion, it's for church members only. Why? Nothing sinister is going on. However, the business of those bodies only affects members of that church, and only...
So all brothers are covered in the lodge? In US Masonry, only the WM is allowed to wear a hat, and he in fact is required. Everyone else is uncovered during lodge.
I spend the majority of my time here, but also spend a good amount of time in a couple of gaming forums. Not that I have much time to game anymore, between school, Masonry, and everything else in my life, but I like to dream. :)
Minor correction, this is what was posted on his facebook:
"So the doctor says I have anterior optic neuropathy, which is causing me to lose my eyesight in my right eye. That was my Friday. Spiffing."
He later updated with a picture of him wearing an eyepatch. (More in jest at this point.)...
I've had a brother give me the MM sign subtly without anyone around us nothing. I went to a restaurant, and he was a server. (Stranger, I'd never met him before.) He noticed my ring, introduced himself, and asked if I was finding everything 'on the level tonight' while he quickly gave the sign...
