Gonzales Masonic Lodge No. 30 A.F. & A.M. cordially invites you to attend a special lodge meeting to be conducted at the old Smiley Masonic Lodge Hall. Lone Star Lodge, originally located in Smiley, demised almost fifty years ago. The Lodge Room has remained virtually untouched through all these years, with the stations remaining in place and even the calendars on the wall.

We have requested special dispensation to hold a Tiled Lodge Meeting in this historic old building and expect to have an Entered Apprentice Degree.

On March 19, 2012, we will meet at 6:30pm for a light meal and open the Lodge in Due and Ancient form at 7:30pm.

The Smiley Lodge Hall is located in the 200 block of Elm Street, just one block south of US 87. Smiley is about 7 miles east of Nixon, Texas on US 87.

Join us in this event, celebrating Texas and the Masonic Fraternity.

What a wonderful evening! Bro. Stephen Henrichs and Bro. Glen Sachtleben made it possible for Gonzales 30 to hold a called meeting at the old Lone Star Lodge in Smiley, TX.

Unfortunately, the Lodge demised years ago, but the building itself is in pretty good condition.

As Worshipful Master of Gonzales 30, I had the privilege of being in the East tonight. The first thing that impressed me was the lighting. We used candles (wax and electric) and oil lamps. Brothers, the lighting alone set the mood. WOW!

I ran the meeting as usual, but when it came to unfinished business, Bro. Sachtleben gave a wonderful presentation of the Masonic history of the old Lone Star Lodge and our home Lodge, Gonzales 30. Afterwards, we invited the Brethren to share their own "Masonic Stories". I was in total awe. Add the ambiance of a historic building and a candlelit Lodge, and you have the making of a wonderful meeting.

It sounds like it was an awesome night. I wish I lived closer to be able to attend. The building looks to be in surprisingly good shape for being vacant that long.
