I have read quite a bit about MW Brother Upton in the proceedings of Texas and Illinois from around 1898 -99.To say he caused and uproar is an understatement.Past Grand Master Thomas Matthews who was the chairman of the committee on foreign correspondence was a former Doctor in the Confederate army and had a few unkind things to say about the Grand Master of Washington. The foreign correspondent from Illinois also a PGM I believe named Robbins was one of the few who thought that Washington had done the right thing.
Man that is awesome that you learn a little about members of your own lodge in discussions like this, some that may not have been passed down through lodge history books. Great read everyone.
