For the first few months after my initiation, I went to ever degree practice that I was invited to and was asked to be the candidate at every one. I must have been so about 12 times, but I have to admit, it helped with my EA work and it helped me learn the degree as well.
I'm not allowed to touch the Christmas tree, so I moved my lights outside :) This is a few years old, but it's still close.
Edit, didn't realize the other pic was so blurry....
All of us have been there Brother!
Everything said so far is good advice, but the thing that really helped me out was when I stopped thinking the work in my head and started saying it out loud. Your brain processes the information diffenently when you speak out loud as opposed to saying it in...
So here's a totally random question: does anyone have some good ways to get skunk scent out of carpeting? My doggies met a skunk last night, but I guess it didn't want to play with them. I got a great shampoo after the vet kicked us out of the office, but the house smells pretty rank...
The first thing that comes to mind for me is temper. I have always had a short fuse and a potty mouth, specifically when I'm driving. I had one girlfriend leave me because of my temper and still didn't change. After putting in my petition, I realized that I look at things with a different...
When I did my EA proficiency, one of the brothers from the Lodge put his hand on my shoulder and told me, "Just remember, every man in this room has done the same thing that you are getting ready to do, and I can promise you, there isn't one man here that didn't make a mistake." After that I...
One of my best friends bought mine for me from EBay (She calls herself my older sister). She got it because it was only $16 and suprised me with it a week before I was raised. Then she told me she knew I would get one that is prettier after a while. Then she told me that I would never forget...
"Masonry is many things and one of them is a vocabulary expander and history teacher."
The phrase that got to me was "From who's bourne". It was driving me crazy. I couldn't remember any of that sentance untill I looked up the word and then it all fell in place.
I'm getting ready to give my Master's proficiency next week, and I'm still stumbling through the words. But everything that has been mentioned so far is totally correct. There were days that I was embarressed to sit in my instructor's office because he would give me 5 words to repeat back to...
Chris87gibbs, find a few lodges close to you and show up an hour or so before their stated meetings. That gives you a chance to talk to the members of the lodge, and for them to get to know you. If you don't get that "warm and fuzzy feeling" at the first lodge you visit, head to the next lodge...
Sweet, Graz! If you enjoyed the initiation, just wait, they get better with each degree! The only thing I can add to what everyone else has said for the new EA's and FC's is to pay attention to what is said around you when you go through the other degrees. It really does help out when you start...
Zach.M, Crono is 100% right. The best way to get your petition signed is to drop by a lodge about 45 mins. before the meeting. After a few visits, you shouldn't have any problems getting the petition filled up.
Good luck!

Last night I was raised to the Sublime degree of Master Mason! The degree team at my Lodge did a GREAT job last night. It really took me by surprise how much I could feel the passion and emotion behind their words and I know I will remember last night for the rest of my life. I just want to...
I'm planning a vacation to Washington DC in the next few months and I'm wondering if anyone out there might have any recommendations on some of the Masonic sites out there. I will hopefully be a M.M. by the time I have the cash saved up for the trip, and will be going to the House of the Temple...
When I was meeting with one of my investigators, I was told that once I went through my initiation, I would start having what he called "Ah-ha" moments when I least expected them. Well, I was sitting in a big room this morning listening to a vendor work on our audio system at work and reading...
